Now established as a fundamental element of Bestival’s expansion into a four-day fling, Thursday evening’s Back To The Phuture bill has this afternoon been announced. Perfectly incongruous with this year’s overall Wildlife theme, the festive mainstay is this year headed up by previously announced quirk-pop types Hot Chip, whose forthcoming LP In Our Heads really is quite honestly superb. It’s arguably their finest work to date and it’s been stuck on ceaseless rotation ever since it flumped through figurative letterbox earlier on in the week. They’re to be joined by industrial engineer Gary Numan and Athens’ hairiest – or at least heaviest – Alabama Shakes. However newcomers to the summer’s final throw-down include worldweary anti-troubadour Willis Earl Beal, the lustrous future of British pop Jessie Ware, and our beloved Sunless ‘97.
The full line up thus far, still short of one headliner somewhere or other between September 6th-9th, looks a little something like:
