If Myth, the first track to be officially outed from Baltimore duo Beach House’s forthcoming fourth LP Bloom served as something of an immediately logical continuation of their unfathomably excellent Teen Dream then Lazuli – at least comparatively – feels like a radical reset of the co-ordinates. It’s been flittering in and out of internet audibility although has now been posted up on the band’s Youtube for all to hear, if not see. Its twinkling lo-fi recalls a possessed Gang Gang Dance bewitched by subtle drum machine clatter and Victoria Legrand’s typically spectral sighs and although perhaps not their most instantly unforgettable composition, Lazuli truly begins to blossom upon repeated exposure.

For those to have resisted the urge to indulge in the juices of the leak, it’s an intriguing intimation of that which we can expect come May 14th…
